Phania Lebrun decided to attend Delaware Tech so she could improve herself and better serve her community. She has achieved both.

Lebrun first attended Delaware Tech in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Once she graduated from ESL, she immediately enrolled in the human services associate degree program. She said the opportunity to help people is what drew her interest in the social services field.

“I choose Delaware Tech because it has an exceptional team and education,” Lebrun said. “I would say Delaware Tech is a great institution to make all students succeed and improve their skills. Delaware Tech has an exceptional team who really care about a student’s education.”

During her time at Delaware Tech, Lebrun said she had to learn how to balance being a mother, a full-time student, and working. She credited the great teachers she had as well as the assistance of the College’s Tutoring Center with helping her reach graduation.

Before she officially graduated, Lebrun began working with autistic children an assistant teacher. She is extremely proud of being able to teach in her second language.

“I’ve helped them develop many skills and I’ve helped them be good students,” Lebrun said.

Lebrun plans to enroll in Delaware State University to further her education and would like to become a licensed social worker.
